An item on my bucket list was to attend a REAL fashion show. Of all places, I got to attend one in New Delhi, India last week. It was a complete surprise. A co-worker of D's wife, who lives in New Delhi, had tickets and she invited me and two other ladies to go with her.
When I was in high school and college, I took fashion and art classes and read every fashion magazine from cover to cover. My favorite magazine was the trade rag Women's Wear Daily (now I read Where Women Create!). I knew all the designers and what they were creating. My dream was to go to a fashion show.
The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 show is the biggest fashion and trade event in Asia. Look at the gorgeous backs on the following dresses.
The Fashion Design Council of
India (FDCI) presented the five-day fashion event with a mix of leading designers along with upcoming designers.
We saw the collections of three designers. All were beautiful! I was expecting to see a heavy India design influence in the clothes of these three designers, but there really wasn't. I would have loved to have seen more collections, but we had a dinner engagement with the boys.
The paparazzi were clicking away. They had the best viewpoint for photos. We were off to the side and unfortunately, all the models turned to face the other side. Coupled with the low lighting and fast movement - my photos are a bit blurry.
She is a skinny one!
As expected, there were interesting people in the audience.
After the show we went to the lower level of the convention center where they had booths with designers selling their clothing.
Love * Love * Love the colors in these collections - the colors of autumn, my favorite.
Here are the clothes from the show:
And the clothes for the next show:
And a little bling:
What is on your bucket list?
I want to ride an elephant next!
I think I like the way the clothes look on the racks better than on the runway - I love how the colors look all together. Is that yarn-on-the-head really a hat or just decor??
I am looking forward to seeing a picture of you on that elephant!!
