We love the Alsace region in France where our very favorite B&B, Ambiance-Jardin is located. We have stayed here four times and are now friends with the owners, Pierrette and Jean Luc.
Pierrette with me in her garden
Pierrette is like me, she loves magazines. So when we visit, I take her several of the Stampington publications like Somerset Studio and Somerset Life. She always has a little treat for me as well (see below).
Such lovely vintage patterns. I have looked for old patterns, but I never have found any. Aren't these beautiful?
And the sweet antique cookie cutters. The one below puzzled us. Is it for biscuits? Or a special cookie?
Look how it has the prongs on the inside.
Here is another view of the inside. Please drop me a note if you know what this was used for.
I already have our room reserved for the Christmas holidays at Ambiance-Jardin. This area is extra special in December. If you have the chance, stop by and visit Ambiance-Jardin's blog and check out Pierrette's watering can collection. And if you are traveling to Alsace - you must stay here. For those Somerset Life fans out there - I would describe Ambiance Jardin as what a B&B would look like if Somerset Life magazine opened one!
Later in the week I will post more on Pierrette's lovely garden, photos of the area, and my flea market finds!
What a wonderful friend you have made! I followed the links and it is just beautiful. Wow, to stay there and visit flea markets TOO - how perfect!

My grand-mother used such a round cookie cutter only to make biscuits....The role of the prongs is to facilitate the release of the "piece" already cut, as sometimes it happened to get caught inside(that depended on the consistency and ingredients of the "material"). Before cutting the dough, she spreaded the inside of the cutter with flour, just to avoid this situation.
