D took me to the Alsace region in France for my birthday weekend for food, wine and flea markets! Everyone knows he hates flea markets so this was a very special b-day gift!
Check out these beautiful fashion ads from 1897, they were folded so there is a crease, but I can work around this. I paid 5 euros ($7 usd) for all three.
Here are a few ads from the inside.
Love these corsets!
This ad caught my eye....recognize this brand? Even way back then they had 500 colors!
We went to two flea markets, but also went to the "Troc - like thrift shop". It was huge and so cheap. Look at the cute sign for the store.
I bought a few things here - a pretty little red and white doily,
ribbon and buttons,
needlepoint and lace doilies and ribbons ( I bought them to use in my art not on my tables),
Isn't this butterfly pattern charming?
Such beautiful handiwork.
And a vintage book written in old German script.
With unusual font.
Dated 1833.
More treasures from the flea markets.
This little date book is only 1.5 x 2.5 and the man gave it to me for free as I bought the three fashion papers from him.
The inside lists the months and holidays.
Not bad for a day's work!
Oh my goodness, what a fun birthday gift! You are one lucky girl indeed. Happy birthday!!!
