Cà Phê Trung - Egg Coffee
It is a speciality of Hanoi, Vietnam. Once I read about it, I had to try it. I know... it sounds gross. The verdict - it really was like ....
First of all, we are in love with regular Vietnamese coffee, especially when it is iced. If you've never tasted it - you must give it a try it. The brewing process is different from regular coffee. Each cup is individually brewed using a small silver drip filter. It is then served with condensed milk instead of regular milk. It has a chocolatey taste.
Does it really have egg in it? Yes. A raw egg yolk is mixed with sweetened condensed milk, whisked into a froth, and added to the specially brewed coffee.
They say it is hard to find egg coffee outside of Hanoi. Guess I need to go back for second a cup!
